Jean-Claude Picot was born in Paris in1933.

A self taught artist, his career as a painter began in 1956. He has been highly praised by European critics who see his brilliant colours and infectious Joie De Vivre as belonging to the Fauvist Tradition of Dufy, Van Dongen and Vlaminck.
The inspiration for many of Picot's works comes from the vibrant life of the French Rivera and the Idyllic Charm of the French Countryside. They bring to the viewer an instant impression of the carefree, happy days to be found in this most favoured of European regions.
